Laligurans is the community group of Sanni Triveni rural municipality ward number 1 with 17 group members. Although the community is socially harmonious, women were carrying most of the responsibilities. Women were responsible for cooking, childcare, collecting firewood and fodder from the forest, field work. While men are mainly engaged in income generating or outdoor activities and rarely supported domestic work.
During the group discussion on gender roles division, group members realized that women are doing more unpaid work than men. After realizing that the women have more workload than men and have no time for the rest. An action plan was developed in the group to share the responsibility and help women in household chores. After that, 9 men members are helping women in their household chore sharing the responsibility such as collecting fodder and firewood from jungle, cleaning the shed and taking care of children. One member from this group has shared that,” if men helped us in our daily work it will be easier and faster to complete the work. Now my husband is helping me with my household work.”
