Bhaga Rokaya, a 37-year-old resident of Gaumul Rural Municipality, is a proud member of the Kartabya Community Development Group (CDG). With family of seven, including her husband and five children. Bhaga faced many challenges in ensuring a stable income for her household. Her husband, who worked as a seasonal laborer, had no fixed source of earnings, making it difficult to meet the family’s daily need.
Determined to change her situation, Bhaga took a loan of NRs. 15,000 from the group’s saving fund and bought two goats. With care and effort, the number grew to four. She sold one to pay her children’s school fees and now owns three goats. Goat rearing has become a steady income source, and she is repaying her loan with ease. “I feel very happy to be part of this group,” says Bhaga. “Besides financial support, I’ve learned many new things during our meetings. We discuss community issues, make plans, and work together.” Bhaga’s story reflects how determination and group support can turn challenges into opportunities for empowerment.
