We take immense pleasure to commemorate late Mr. Narad Prasad Sharma, our source of inspiration and a dedicated individual who played an unparalleled role for our organization and institutionalization of FEST as our core modus operandi for engaging with the communities.
नेपालमा यस वर्ष संघीय लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्रको स्थापनापछिको दोश्रो स्थानीय तहको निर्वाचन २०७९ वैशाख ३० गते सम्पन्न भई स्थानीय सरकारले आफ्नो कामहरु सुरु गरेका छन् । संघीय संसद् प्रतिनिधिसभा र प्रदेश सभाको निर्वाचन मंसिर ४ गते सम्पन्न भएको छ ।
It is with great pleasure that I present the Annual Report for 2023, highlighting the remarkable achievements of our organization and the positive impact we have made in the community. This report showcases our journey of empowering the impoverished and marginalized, safeguarding their rights, and fostering inclusive and equitable development for a dignified life, and provides a transparent account of our financial stewardship throughout the year.
Sahakarmi Samaj (SS) is a registered NGO dedicated to empowering disadvantaged andmarginalized communities to become self-reliant since 1997.
Sahakarmi Samaj has proven experience in community mobilization approach. SS has contributed remarkable intervention in community mobilization in first phase. Therefore, Simavi has provided the opportunity to work in both districts Banke and Surkhet.
Overall, the project has been a success in many ways, paving the way for improved governance and increased engagement between citizens and local governments. The project’s emphasis on community capacity building, empowerment, and civic awareness was critical as enablers for better local government functioning and the promotion of good governance.
In 2021, the third year of the project, COVID was yet again a huge challenge; and yet Sahakarmi & SHEP once again proved the resilience of their approach. They demonstrated that the community infrastructure built up as a result of this programme (and those that preceded it), works effectively, even in the face of a global crisis such as the COVID 19 pandemic.
Amidst COVID 19 pandemic, the project has been successfully being implemented by all the partners of the requesting members. The third wave of COVID-19 in Nepal led by the “Omicron” variant became the main challenge for smooth implementations of the planned activities on timeline. The first case of Omicron variant in Nepal was recorded on 6th December 2021 and the government enforced preventive measures including strict enforcement of the COVID safety measures including closure of schools and government offices.
The project has identified vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in the community of Bajura and has helped to form community development groups with the majority of these people. The inclusion of these people in group formation has helped to increase their strength and interest of them in community development activities. The different project activities conducted in the preliminary phase have helped to identify the economic, social, and cultural behaviors of community people in detail. This will in attaining the project objective effectively and efficiently.
