With the support from ICCO Cooperation and UPCN, Sahakarmi Samaj implementedCommunity Governance Enhancement for Social Transformation Program (CGEST) project in twenty VDCs of Dang district from 2010 to 2015. The objectives of the project was to enhance the quality of lives of marginalised community people; organisational strengthening of the Community Based Networking Organisations (CBNOs); Improving the quality services of local government; as well as enhancing community participation and capacity building of NGOs in terms of using the FEST approach and promote inclusive decision making related to the use of natural resources and management as well as resolution of resource based conflict. The project directly reached 17,527 people from marginalised communities including people at risks, CBNOs/CSOs including local government bodies’ representatives. The major learning of the project was unless and until a real scenario and context of the community people is understood and a good rapport is built, community people cannot be motivated.
