Objectives:
The objective of the program revolves around Key features of the climate justice framework (i.e., increase the capacity of communities to respond to climate crises); gender equality objectives (by amplifying the voice and agency of women and girls), and adopting a shift-the-power approach. The Water Justice Fund intends to provide customized grants designed around the fund’s unique climate financing model and assess its feasibility during its pilot phase of 2023. The fund’s climate financing model based on localization offers climate adaptation grants related to water, the last mile women and girls. The grants start with women and girls identifying climate vulnerability related to water that she seeks to redress and follows her decision and leadership in producing ways to support that. The grant seeks to support and strengthen women and girls agency and leadership in responding to and adapting to climate change adversities.
